The Parish of Great Oakley consists of the village of Great Oakley and the hamlet of Stones Green together with parts of the surrounding rural area of the Tendring District in North East  ESSEX.

This website is intended to support residents and potential visitors to the Parish with information and contacts. It is also used by the Parish Council to make available details of its activities together with information provided to us by Essex Police, Tendring District Council and other local sources. It is also intended to carry details and notice of local Community activities and initiatives together with locally organised events and achievements.

 

10 O'CLOCK CLUB - Toddler and Baby Group
(term time only)

Tuesday mornings for "under 5's" the TODDLER AND BABY group meet in Great Oakley Village Hall from 10:00am to 11:30am for all manner of fun activities - £2.50 per family - many years experience - refreshments provided for children and  adults - click here to download some more details and/or come to a session to see for yourself.

PLANNED NHS CHANGES AT CLACTON AND HARWICH "FRYATT" HOSPITALS

£15 million for CLACTON and £3 million for HARWICH to provide revised services at both hospitals:-
i) Clacton - revised GP services, Urgent Treatment Centre for minor injuries and illness, mental health and outpatient services - a "Community Hub" they call it!
ii) Harwich - rehabilitation care for stroke and other patients.

 CHANGES NEXT YEAR TO TDC's HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTIONS IN TENDRING DISTRICT .......

Tendring District Council will implement  significant changes to it's HOUSEHOLD  WASTE COLLECTION service from summer 2019 - most residences will receive a large 180 litre "wheelie bin" free of charge from TDC which should be emptied every TWO WEEKS.

Recycling collections (i.e. green and red boxes),weekly food waste and assisted collections will not be affected.  

  

"OAKLEY ORCHARDS"  -  A NEW APPROACH TO PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW VILLAGE HALL, DOCTORS' SURGERY, CAR PARK AND 51 HOUSES ON THE ALLOTMENT FIELD BESIDE THE SCHOOL, ON BEAUMONT ROAD


A further detailed planning application has been submitted to for Phase 1 of the development which consists of 23 houses and was discussed in Great Oakley Village Hall at 7pm, before the Parish Council meeting, on 17th April 2018.  TDC's decision on this latest application is awaited.
